Bluebell Woods
Glazed Acrylic with Gesso
60cm x 45cm

A great exercise in layering to create depth and dappled light. I stripped the aspects of the composition down to the basic layers of landscape, starting with earth and sky, continually layering the grass, flowers, trees, leaves, etc. A daunting method in the early stages, as the final result isn't realised until the last leaves and pools of light are placed. Gesso is also used to add the feeling of depth and texture.
