I wanted to achieve a close a reproduction as possible. I emulated Monet's colour palette and brushes, I painted as Monet had, using a long brush, standing at a distance to create the natural loose style. The painting looks like it was created very quickly (the original would have been – he painted the scene as it happened) But mine took over 2 months!! Oil is slow drying and it takes time to recreate the depth of the painting. I am glad I did, because it is very expressive, as Monet would have intended.
